When you multiply a Number 1 with another Number 2, you get a multiple.
Suppose you have number 11 in your mind and you have been asked to find multiples of number 11.
–>It means that you have to find number which get divided by 11 giving 0 remainder.
–> It also means that the multiple comes in the multiplication table of 11
For Example:
In order to get multiple of 11, just write multiplication table of number 11. Look at the example given below:
Let us take another example of Multiple
Find some of the multiples of number 7.
In order to get the multiple of 7, the easiest way is to write the multiplication table of number 7
You can see from above that the numbers 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 are multiples of number 7
Finding whether 84 is the multiple of 7 or not?
1st method – Division method (for bigger numbers)
Divide 84 by 7, if the remainder is 0, then yes, it is multiple of 7
2nd method – Table method (for smaller numbers otherwise is a lengthy process) Write table of 7, till you get 84 or closest greater number
IMPORTANT POINTS
1. Multiples of a number are greater than or equal to that number.
Example – Multiples of 6 are
6 x 1 = 6
6 x 2 = 12
6 x 3 = 18
6 x 4 = 24
6 x 5 = 30 and so on
2. The number of multiples of a number are infinite (unlimited)
You can starting counting the table as long as you wish.
