We know that clock has two hands.
The smaller hand is called hour hand and the longer one is known as hand. By using both the hand we can tell the time of the day.

Hands of the Clock

You can observe that the needle which is larger in size is known as minute hand and the smaller needle is known as hour hand.
Telling Time to Hours and Minutes
The hour hand of the clock tells the hours.

Minute Hand Reading
Here we will learn how to read minutes of time using Minute hand of the clock.
In the above clock, the numbers in red color shows time in minutes.
It means that if minute hand is pointing at number 1, then time is 5 mins
Below table shows number in clock and the corresponding time in minutes.
Let us solve some examples to understand the concept better.
Example 01
Hour Hand is at number 8
Hour Time = 8 Hours
Minute hand is at 5
Minute Time = 25 Minutes
Hence the time is 8 Hour, 25 Minutes
Example 02
Hour Hand is at number 3
Hour Time = 3 Hours
Minute hand is at 10
Minute Time = 50 Minutes
Hence the time is 3 Hour, 50 Minutes
Example 03
Hour Hand is at number 7
Hour Time = 7 Hours
Minute hand is at 9
Minute Time = 45 Minutes
Hence the time is 7 Hour, 45 Minutes
