Skip Counting by 3 || Number Learning – Grade 1 Math

In skip counting by 3’s we basically count numbers by skipping number 3 each time we move forward.

Below is the illustration which shows how we will move forward in the number line if we skip counting by three’s

Skip counting by 3 for Grade 1 and Kindergarten USA and Canada children

To understand the above illustration, kindly follow the below steps:

Step A:
Start with number 0

Step B:
Move forward & skip the number by 3
⟹ 0 + 3 = 3
Now we are at number 3 on number line

Step C:
Again Move Forward by skipping number by 3 from current position
⟹ 3 + 3 = 6
We are standing at number 6 on number line

Step D:
Repeat Step C again and again
⟹ 6 + 3 = 9
⟹ 9 + 3 = 12
⟹ 12 + 3 = 15

The process continues repeatedly and we will get following numbers
0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 . . . . .

I hope you have understood the basic idea of skip counting by 3’s using number line.
For you conceptual understanding, let us understand this topic with the help of chart diagram
