Question 01
A person has to cover a distance of 6 km in 45 minutes. If he covers one-half of the distance in two-thirds of the total time; to cover the remaining distance in the remaining time, his speed in km/hr must be
Given: Distance to be covered = 6 km in time = 45 minutes
He covers one-half of the distance = 6/2 km = 3 km
In two-third of time = 2/3 x 45 minutes = 30 minutes
Therefore, remaining time = total time – 30 minutes = (45 – 30) minutes = 15 minutes
And remaining distance = 6 km – 3 km = 3 km
His speed for remaining distance = distance/ time = 3 km/ 15 minutes = 3 km/ (15/60) minutes
= 3 km/ ¼ hour
=12 km/hr
