Question 01

The average of five numbers is 27. If one number is excluded, the average becomes 25. The excluded number is

Given:
Average = 27
No. of data = 5
If one no. excluded then average = 25

Let the number to be excluded be x

Now, average = sum of all data/ no. of data

                27 = sum/ 5

             Sum = 27 x 5

According to given condition, 25 = (sum – x)/ 4

                                        Sum – x = 25 x 4

                                     27 x 5 – x = 25 x 4

                                         135 – x = 100

                                                  x = 135 – 100

                                                 x = 35

 Ans. Excluded number is 35.
