How to convert fraction to percent

In this post we will learn methods to convert fraction number into percentage.

We have already learnt that percentage can be converted into fraction by dividing 100.

But for fraction to percent conversion, the process is just opposite, here we have to multiply the number with 100.

Fraction to Percent calculation

In order to convert fraction to percent you have to do just one thing: Multiplication with 100

Explanation behind 100 multiplication:

To understand this take one fraction for reference.
Let us take fraction \frac{2}{5}

we know that, percentage is unit value per 100.
So we can express percentage as:
\frac{Percentage\ value}{100} \ =\ \frac{2}{3}\\\ \\

Taking 100 to right side;
Percentage\ Value\ =\ \frac{2}{3} \ \times 100 \\ \\

Hence, we multiply fraction with 100 to get Percentage Value.

Let us understand the above process using examples:

Example 01
Convert \frac{2}{5} into percentage

Percentage\ Value\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{2}{5} \ \times 100 \\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{200}{5}\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ 40\\ \\

Now put percent sign in the final result.
Hence, 40% is the answer

Example 02
Convert \frac{3}{20} into percentage

Percentage\ Value\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{3}{20} \ \times 100 \\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{300}{20}\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ 15\\\ \\

Hence 15% is the solution

Example 03
Convert fraction \frac{5}{8} into percentage

Percentage\ Value\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{5}{8} \ \times 100 \\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{500}{8}\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ 62.5\\\ \\

Hence 62.5% is the solution

Example 04
Convert \frac{11}{7} into percentage

Percentage\ Value\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{11}{7} \ \times 100 \\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{1100}{7}\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ 157.14\\\ \\

Hence 157.14% is the solution

Example 05
Convert \frac{4}{25} into percentage

Percentage\ Value\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{4}{25} \ \times 100 \\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ \frac{400}{25}\\\ \\ \Longrightarrow \ 16\\\ \\

Hence 16% is the solution
